    We found this place expensive, fairly dirty and accommodation really post-Soviet austerity! We didn’t see any decent shopping centres and the concrete beaches are not maintained and very expensive for a sunbed that were ripped and dirty. Definitely wouldn’t buy any real estate there!

      We stay about a month in most cities, but sometimes up to 88 days. We really don’t carry a lot of cash with us. We use the ATM. We carry two great credit cards. They are available on our website. I highly recommend the Chase card and with our link you get 75k points. www.warrenjulietravel.com/essentialtravelresources The Schwab card reimbursed for ATM fees and the Chase card saves us on foreign transaction fees, and we get points on purchases that we can use to redeem for cash to pay each statement.

    I love your videos but they don't really show us what our slow travel early retirement could look like as we will have $12k-$15k a month to spend. Obviously that's a great problem to have! But nope, no clue what that might look like! Would you mind telling me where you'd spend more money if you could? Better lodging? Staying in more desirable spots? Eating out more? Flying more than driving? Thanks!!

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel День тому

      That is a wonderful problem to have! We don’t have a $3k budget per month. We actually live on far less than our budget. The traveling by car is done for our dogs. Our rescue dog grew much larger than we expected and cannot go in cabin. We have chosen to travel by car for this reason. With this budget, you will have a luxurious existence. If we budgeted $12-$15k per month, we would substantially increase our lodging budget. Since flights are not part of our lifestyle at this point, it is hard to say whether that could be improved or not with a higher budget, but I would assume it would allow for business class travel etc. it’s very easy to spend substantially more on restaurants than we do. I prefer to eat at home more often especially in highly touristy cities and places as the food is sometimes subpar. It’s extremely easy to spend a lot more in certain countries such as Switzerland or the Scandinavia region. Our main audience is not living on $12k- 15k per month. We did not set out to become a budget channel, but once we began this lifestyle and realized how much less we actually truly needed to live we decided to share our experiences with other people. We rarely spend 40% of our expected monthly budget that we budgeted at retirement. We slow travel, living mostly like locals, we didn’t set out to be full time tourists or fast travelers. So if you do want to tourist or fast travel you can easily max out your budget, but then you miss out on the experience of understanding the culture and meeting people. Thanks for watching:)

    Things I just don't understand. They're British Ex-Pats, not immigrants? I mean if you move to live in the UK from Turkiye you are most definitely called an immigrant. It just seems a bit unfair. I think we should ditch the term ex-pat all together. If you leave your native country to live in another you are an immigrant.

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel 2 дні тому

      Turks in Britain can be an Expat, I assume you’re American? Here is the definition we use and my statement from our Facebook Group: Let’s define the term Expat, we occasionally hear negative comments about the term expat from people in Latin America or South America, where some try to spin a false race or wealth definition. The term in Europe, and Asia does not exude this negativity and is better understood. So to clear any debate that may arise, here is my understanding and definition of Expat. An expat, encompasses individuals from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds who reside outside their native country. While the term "expat" is commonly associated with English-speaking individuals, it's essential to recognize that expatriates represent a diverse spectrum of nationalities, languages, and ethnicities. They may be professionals, students, retirees, or individuals seeking new experiences abroad. Expats contribute to the cultural fabric of their host countries, enriching communities with their unique perspectives, traditions, and skills. The expatriate community enhances cultural exchange and fosters understanding across borders, emphasizing that expatriatism transcends linguistic boundaries to encompass a global tapestry of experiences and identities.

    Thanks. I got a lot out of your video. I have had a burning desire to do something similar to you for probably 10 years. See the world, experience cultures, etc. We could easily slow travel on the rent we would get from our house. Just turned 60 and see options slowly slipping away. Will I regret not doing it in 15 years time, will this turn into resentment? My wife isn’t interested. We live a great life on the beach in Sydney. Children/grand children. Dogs are defacto kids (can’t travel with dogs from Australia-or more accurately can’t bring them back because of strict quarantine laws particularly in relation to rabies). So I live vicariously through you tube channels like yours….for the time being anyway.

      This is such a difficult dilemma for so many people and we had no idea how many couples out there are dealing with this. From time to time we’ve received emails and numerous comments throughout different videos we’ve done, but there seems to be quite a lot of people in your position. There’s really no easy answer for it. I think a few people have some great ideas of doing some shorter jobs of a month as a test run for their spouse. Perhaps, the unwilling spouse will get the travel bug like many and realize what they’re missing out on or perhaps they’ll realize that they actually don’t appreciate the lifestyle. It’s always worth a try.. Best of luck to you. Thanks for watching. :)

      Thanks so much for your response. I travel overseas with my wife once a year and by myself another time. She loves places like New York, Vancouver, Banff, Barcelona, Florence, Greek Islands, etc. so we do that together & her limit is 2 weeks before she has to be back with the kids/dogs/Australian lifestyle. I particularly love everywhere in SE Asia,& India, Sri Lanka, so I do that alone. Recently I went to Mexico and Peru. I know I’m very lucky to be able to do that and am grateful. But in the end I see that as a couple of fun holidays and completely different to doing what you do. Completely different. I would love to and I have a strong yearning to slow travel the world for the next 10 years with a couple of weeks a year back in Australia for family reasons. But she doesn’t and as you say this difference in lifestyle perspectives/priorities is pretty common amongst your viewers. Given I love my wife I’m not sure there is an easy answer to it! You both seem to be on the same page which is great and lucky.

    I would never sell the home I owned because you will never be able to buy back into that market. Particularly eastern seaboard in Australia. I thank god I am single and I don't have to make these decisions. You are no longer living with your children. And your grand children are not your children. In fact, they have their own very busy lives too. Staying in touch today is easy. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Mobile Phones, Whatsapp etc make contact so easy compared to even 10 or 20 years ago.

You both are blessed in that manner.

      Thank you for such kind words. We appreciate them. I hope you have an opportunity to see many of these places. We feel so very blessed to have experience so much in the last four years. We addressed the topic about spouses, not being in sync with each other for this lifestyle in our last video. It is incredible to us. How many people have asked our advice about this particular subject. We didn’t realize there were so many couples with the dilemma. Thank you for watching :)

    I am self employed and all my clients are individuals.. no company contract. Can Montenegro deal with this? Spain says I have to be a corporate contractor so I cannot go there. What does your expert say?

      Unfortunately, as we understand it, you must have a written contract from an employer in order to qualify for the nomad visa. We are happy to put you in touch with the Residency expert if you wish to speak to him. I know that this Visa is new and laws are changing all the time in this country. If you would like to get in contact with him, please email WarrenJulietravel@gmail.com and we will get the information to him Thanks for watching:)

    If you want to move in Romania, do NOT come to Bucharest. This city is totally f...up, because of uncontrolled and chaotic real estate development, this city has become a pollution nightmare, chaotic traffic, aggressive drivers, bad and narrow roads with no parking spaces and a lot of dust in the air.

      And can you legally work remotely with income outside Montenegro if you have residency by buying a property? Or freelance in Montenegro?

    • @WarrenJulieTravel

      That was the value for citizenship by investment. That program is not available any longer. There is no minimum requirement for real estate. It must be habitable and not land.

    Really enjoy your videos. We have slowly started our slow travel adventures and are loving it. We are from the UK but have lived in Turkey for seven years, we also have a family bolt hole in Spain so our plan going forward is to sell our property in Turkey and spend 2x90 days in Spain 3 months in the Balkans and 3 months in SE Asia with the occasional short trip back to the UK

    My thought is if you have a home base overseas just save and offer to pay part of the adult children and grands travelonce a year . Some grands are old enough to spend summers with Grandparents while parents work. Gives them a different perspective and educational . I face time my Grand and gonna plan on visit every other year . Who said the Grandparents have to do all the work . The adult kids are more likely to visit with financial support to do so especially in this economy if you can do so.

    Hold on a second. The prices he was quoting for the 4 bedroom were quite high, ....and from the point of view of many of your audience the guests career (DOD contractor) privileges/perks are not attainable for regular expats. This expat's life falls into the realm (to some degree) of the "highly compensated expat". Most American couples would have to hold down an online job each paying around $4000/month before taxes to match this families expenses. I guess this is not a budget living channel.

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel 4 дні тому

      If you watch the video, he explains what things cost in the area, and provides examples of costs for a regular person’s budget in Stuttgart Germany. We are spending five weeks this summer in Germany ourselves, and will share our experiences on life there. I think they did a good job explaining the necessary cost of life in the country, sharing examples of the cost for a flat etc. We aim to share the cost of living anywhere we have the ability to, not just the lowest cost examples, but the true cost to be comfortable somewhere.

    The point of this video is great… literally great. But having no children and the same being the case for my significant other, the bigger issue (I would say the threshold issue) seems to be, are both of you on the same page relative to what you want to do with the upcoming years of your life. If one wants to travel and the other wants to further build their career, and in order to do that the other is at least somewhat tied down in time and space to the location of that career, that is a real problem. And I would think there are countless variations on this fact pattern relative to when, where and how one of you wants to spend the relatively immediate future. So, at least to childless me, immediate family just isn’t that big of an issue. But, how much you are in sync with your partner’s desires, goals, etc., is the biggest issue. Though I guess for people who are so used to being around their family that it drives them nuts / leaves them longing to be away from them, that’s just their particular subset of my last statement.

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel 4 дні тому

      I think there are many variations to this issue. We could certainly have gone on and on with this discussion, but we would lose viewers quickly. It’s really a tough conundrum. It really is all about compromise. Sometimes, people don’t realize the joys of traveling like this until they have tried. A career is important, but if it’s not essential for financial independence, it really comes down to compromise and giving up things in order to experience a completely different life. Thanks for watching:)
